Definitions

  1. Sexual Acts are defined as sexual intercourse, masturbation, sadism, masochism, bestiality, fellatio, cunnilingus, exhibition of genitals or nudity if such nudity is depicted for the purpose of sexual stimulation or gratification, or any touching of the sexual or other intimate parts.
  2. Gender is defined as biological gender
  3. Profanity is defined as the quality of showing irreverence toward God or sacred things and or using course or vulgar speech

Objectives

Provide wholesome, educational, literature for supplemental enrichment of students in the Warwick School District.

Responsibility for Selection

Recommendations for new material may come through Bibliography, Inc. Committee, an individual or a student request. (must use book request form)

Responsibility for review

Readers, AKA  book buddies, will be responsible to read and measure books against Qualifying criteria. See Book Buddy job description.

Qualifying criteria

All books should be new or like-new condition.

Elementary and Middle School Libraries

NO materials in elementary and/or middle school libraries shall contain:

  1. Visual or visually implied depictions of sexual acts or simulations of such acts.
  2. Explicit or implied written descriptions of sexual acts or
  3. Visual depictions of nudity or implied nudity.
  4. Gender confusion (pronouns, etc)
  5. Profanity
  6. Promotion of alcohol and/or drug use.

High School Libraries

NO materials in high school libraries shall contain:

  1. Visual or visually implied depictions of sexual acts or simulations of such acts
  2. Explicit written descriptions of sexual acts, or
  3. Visual Depictions of nudity—-
  4. Profanity permitted only if: A. incidental and episodic B.Not sexually derived
  5. Gender confusion (pronouns etc.)
  6. Promotion of alcohol and drug use

Acquisition Process

If literature meets qualifying criteria, a donation form is submitted to the Warwick School District. If Warwick School District approves, Bibliography, Inc. will acquire a copy of the literature and donate it to the appropriate school library/s.

NOTE: Elementary level will receive 4 copies (1 for each physical  library) will be donated. Middle school and high school will receive one copy.

*Student request- the student who requested a book will be gifted a copy of the requested book for their own personal library if the book is approved through Bibliography, Inc.

If literature does not meet Bibliography, Inc.’s qualifying criteria or if Warwick School District rejects it, the requester will be notified of the outcome and book will be returned to donor if applicable.
